Midweek nerd musings
I just started playing Kentucky Route Zero, and i’m waiting to go home tonight to play The Wolf Among Us: Cry Wolf, so i’m not prepared to shout my opinions on either of these games yet, so i’m sharing my Midweek nerd musings that have crossed my brain meats this week!
- If you’re trying to find out what people are saying about the game Spoiler Alert, don’t follow the hashtag #SpoilerAlert; you’re going to regret it. (Also, you should play Spoiler Alert! It’s a short, fun little game where you play it in reverse – put the coins back, resurrect the monsters you killed, etc)
- Don’t read Sex Criminals on the bus. Well, no, you could… but just be prepared to have the conversation that goes something like this: “Yeah, that’s a woman masturbating, but THAT’S HOW SHE STOPS TIME!!!”. Best case scenario, you find someone on the bus who likes rad comics! Worst case scenario, you’re escorted off the bus and get to have an uncomfortable conversation with the public transportation police peoples.
- When you let people know at work you’re on reddit when they’re a group of people that aren’t familiar with it, they start to explore reddit and share with you all the things they find interesting / horrifying. ALL THE THINGS. I can’t unsee these things. 🙁
- I wholeheartedly disagree with Phil Fish that letsplay videos should be blocked because it’s stealing. I may have been turned away from a game or two because I saw game play that made me realize that it’s not what I wanted – but I have that same reaction with commercials, so should they be banned as well? And just this morning in a conversation with Jon Spengler about Divinity: Original Sin: “I had to buy Divinity after I watched a great Let’s Play co-op video where two guys tried to navigate making it rain to create puddles, then hitting the puddles with a fire spell to create steam (more damage), then hitting the steam cloud with lightning to hit everyone in the cloud with a single target spell. I had no choice. And of course they make it rain leaving puddles everywhere and the bad guys have lightning. ZOOCH” “Also: Take that Phil Fucking Fish. A let’s play led to me not waiting for a Steam sale.” Stories like that are way more common for me and my friends than being talked out of a game and why Phil Fish is wrong!
That’s all that’s on my brain for now, but check out our twitch stream tonight for all the poor choices I make with The Wolf Among us!
