Episode 47 – We’re all Mary Sue

This week we’re joined by Eric Charles (Hannah’s husband) as we discuss the recent merger of The Mary Sue and Geekosystem. It would be fair to say that we’re a bit disappointed in the loss of a safe space for women on the internet. Not that TMS is suddenly a hostile environment, but it’s no longer what it had been. Prior to the merger, TMS was a site by women, for (primarily) women. It brought a female perspective into the male dominated world of geek culture. Because of the merger, there is a shift to attract a more “inclusive” audience, which is basically opening the floodgates and eradicating the previously safe environment that many women felt TMS was. So we talk about this in general and discuss one new addition to the TMS staff in particular: Mr. Tickle.
