Day 26: Do you still game with the group that introduced you to the hobby?
No, I don’t.
I dropped from my first group’s Sunday games to have the time to start my own game on the weekend. I don’t regret the decision, starting my own game might be second only to my marriage in terms of events that have shaped my adult social life. But it was the beginning of my drift away from that group of friends that included, Pel, the trusting and kind guy that got me to move to Seattle in the first place.
I know that we are all still friends, ultimately, but it still saddens me. I still love them for the companionship that comfort they offered a 19-year-old small-town guy that moved across the country to the Big City. But adults drift. I keep their influence alive in my life, doing my best to accept and include others in my hobbies and life like they did with me.
