Never Lose Anything Again with the Stickr Trackr
The Stickr Trackr (formerly known as the Button Trackr) by Phone Halo is a low power bluetooth device that ensures you never lose anything again. They started as a successful indiegogo campaign back in early 2013, end ended up raising $352,000 of a $15,000 goal. Pretty impressive! Thanks to my indiegogo addiction, Dorkadia got an early hands-on preview of the device.
The button-sized Stickr device is about the size of a quarter, and is a basically a small black disk with a logo and small blue LED light, plus a keychain attachment. The devices support iOS and Android and there are corresponding trackr apps for each platform.
Setup couldn’t be easier. Just remove the tracker (excuse me, “Trackr”) from the plastic package, download the app for your phone, install the battery, and link the Trackr to the app. That’s it! All in all setup took me less than 5 minutes.
You can also create an account in order to crowd source lost items. If another Trackr user comes in range of your lost device, you will be notified of the location. This assumes of course, a large network of Trackr users. The device itself has about a 100 foot range from your device via bluetooth. If you are in range of the device, you can cause the device to generate an audio alert to help find it (for example, lost keys).
The app set up is easy and took only a few steps.
There is also a device intended for wallets in which is small and flat. However, the Stickr Trackr can theoretically be attached to anything (it includes an adhesive pad plus lanyard for attaching to keychains, etc.
All in all I’m very pleased with the button Trackr. It’s a small, easy, and inexpensive device. According to the PR details from CES 2014, the Trackr will cost around $29 each. Now I just need 4 more of these suckers – put one on the baby, the cat, the phone, and the husband!
