Dorkaida Christmas guide: Tablets!
Christmas – It’s that time of year – when we scrape all our pennies together and hit the shops to buy the best gift for someone. I won’t lie, I LOVE gift giving. I don’t always nail down what that person wants, but i’m sure they won’t forget my gift! (You can ask my family… a few years ago everyone got a gift topper of a wooden moustache from Geek Chic, or the year everyone got laminated membership cards from the Traffic Cone Preservation Society, or the year they all got egg cubers) But this year I have my eye on tablets – for me and for someone I need to shop for.
Here is the advice I received (plus links) from guest author Andrew, that is worth bearing in mind if you’re looking for a tablet this giftmas season!
- Nexus 7 ($230) – best 7 inch tablet around, especially for the price.
- Nexus 10 ($450) – really high def, high quality 10 inch tablet.
- Samsung Note 8 ($350) or 10 (2014 edition – $600) – while the latter may not be available yet, the new note tablets are both good and they come with a stylus for drawing and crap.
- Amazon kindle HDX ($250) – this tablet has so many letters on the end, it must mean it’s good.
- Microsoft surface Pro 2 (spendy – roughly $1k) – ok, quit laughing. The 2nd surface is really good. Covers that have keyboards, batteries, lights, oh my! Plus you can play steam on it 🙂
- Lastly, if you’re wanting iOS, there is the iPad mini (starting at $330) – we all know how this one works.
